Laser Treatment or Sclerotherapy for Leg Veins

A clinician examining spider veins on a patient's thigh with a light

This page sets laser treatment beside sclerotherapy for leg veins, then looks at four nearby practices you could put the question to. It does not rank the two treatments. Which one fits depends on the clinician who examines you.

For background on both, read the superficial venous disease and chronic venous insufficiency overview, the guide to venous disease treatments and the guide to venous disease types, symptoms and treatment.

What the review count can and cannot tell you

The practices are ordered by Number of Google reviews, counted from each Google Maps profile. Soris Pain & Vascular Institute sits first with 488 reviews, the largest base on this list. A review count measures how much patient feedback exists. It does not show which treatment a practice offers or how well it performs it.

The first four practices at a glance

The table covers the practices ranked first through fourth.

Rank Practice Town Google rating Google reviews
First Soris Pain & Vascular Institute Tinley Park 4.9 488
Second Chicago Vein Centers Mokena 4.9 161
Third USA Vein Clinics - Orland Park Orland Park 4.3 128
Fourth Center for Vein Restoration - Orland Park Orland Park 4.7 104

Reading each row

First, Soris Pain & Vascular Institute. Patients give it a 4.9 rating across 488 reviews. Its own site, sorispainvascular.com, says consultations, vascular ultrasound and most minimally invasive procedures happen at its Tinley Park office. Whether laser treatment or sclerotherapy is among them is a question for the office.

Second, Chicago Vein Centers. The Mokena listing carries a 4.9 rating across 161 reviews. Google files it as a medical clinic, a label that says nothing about which of these two treatments it performs.

Third, USA Vein Clinics - Orland Park. Its profile shows 4.3 across 128 reviews, the lowest average of the four on a large base. Google lists the same medical clinic category.

Fourth, Center for Vein Restoration - Orland Park. Reviewers give it 4.7 across 104 reviews. The category is medical clinic once more, so ask the office directly about its method.

Two questions to bring

  1. Which of the two treatments do you perform in this office, and why that one for my veins?
  2. Who carries out the treatment, and what is that clinician's specialty?

Which option meets the standard

This page cannot tell you which treatment your veins call for. The practice that meets the standard examines you, names the option it recommends and explains the reason in terms you can check against the reading above. If a practice cannot say which of the two it performs, keep looking. Favor the clearest answer, not the largest star count.
